The Urge to do Wrong

Have you ever wished that you didn't know any better? Aren't there times that you just want to do things and not have to worry about your conscience getting in the way? Doesn't wrong sometimes feel GOOD, EXHILARATING, FREE!!? Why is doing good so hard? Why does it seem like those who dwell in the "not so good" seem to benefit more than those who do good? Why do they get (seem to get) the cash, house, cars, mates and are always popular and "loved"? These are just a few of the questions flowing through my head at any random time of the day. With these eyes I see those who deal in the illegals and the unfair being lifted by the masses who are subdued, brainwashed, and taken advantage of. Doesn't it make you wonder? Maybe the "dark side" isn't that bad at all. Maybe we could play along in this game and choose to win by the unfair advantage. A little "white lie" here and there to get what we want, a little forced persuasion, a ...

What is the value of a word?

On a day similar to today, a teenage girl asks her father, "Dad, can I get a new phone? This one is old now and has problems." The father replies, "I'll get you a new one if you do well on your exams." With this in mind, the girl set out to do her best in her exams. Night after night she stayed up reading, studying, and memorizing book after book. The exams came and went. When her results were revealed she was a bit disappointed. She had not come first in her class. In fact, she came fourth. Her father was also disappointed and decided not to get her the new phone because she had not kept up her end of the bargain. The girl went to her room and cried, feeling not as a failure, but betrayed. She knew within herself that she indeed kept up her end of the bargain. Her father did say "if you do well", not "if you came first". How well did this girl do on her exams? She did well enough to land her an average grade more than what was required for h...

The struggles of the ordinary aircraft.

There is no doubt in my mind that at least once in your life you have sat and really pondered over the miracle that is modern day flight. We sit at the airport and we watch planes come and go. Scientists and engineers have explained and demonstrated the principles behind flight, yet it ceases to be anything but a miracle. When I was first informed as to how an aircraft produces lift, I was a bit lost because it went against what I had originally thought. I was told that the movement of the airfoil surface (wings) through air creates an area of lower pressure above the wing compared to that below the wing, and that the tendency of objects to move from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure is essentially what takes place when an airplane flies. I had originally thought that flight was a reaction from air hitting the under surface of the wings as they move through the air, but, as we get older we get wiser. This new found knowledge, that goes way more in depth by the way, ha...
